About us

Great music, big sound, friendly faces. Did you know we started out over ten years ago with just 34 players?

Hard to believe it's the same orchestra who now create the big and beautiful sound our audiences love.If you want to lose yourself in wonderful classical works, many romantic, many famous, some you’ll have never heard before, you should pay a visit to our concerts this year.

Whether you’ve taken a shine to Shostakovich or delight in Debussy, we’re here to offer you the best in Bristol’s amateur orchestral performances.

The Brunel Sinfonia are currently recruiting for a new Musical Director and Conductor. For more information, and how to apply, please see the job description.

Summer Concert 2025

Summer Sounds: Shostakovich, Bernstein & Márquez in a Dazzling Symphony of Dance and Drama!

Redland Hall, Redmaids' High School, Bristol BS9 3AW

Become part of the orchestra

Whenever we have room, we welcome new players. If you'd like to play great music with a group of supportive and sociable musicians, we'd like to hear from you. The orchestra is made up of between 80 and 90 people but we can cope with 100, so do get in touch.

How do I join?

We ask for a minimum standard of Grade 7 for string players and Grade 8 for wind and brass.

We offer on a first come first serve basis. Where we have more people waiting than spaces, we offer places first to people who have already played with us.

Rehearsals are usually on a Wednesday @ 7.15pm at Trinity Academy in Lockleaze for the 8-10 weeks before a concert.
